HIV Prevention

Today, more tools are available to prevent HIV than there have been in the past. Some strategies include abstinence (not having sex), never sharing needles or drug preparation equipment, using condoms the right way every time you have sex, and getting tested for HIV. There are also HIV prevention medicines, such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). For people living with HIV, there are steps to take to prevent the virus from spreading to other people and live a healthy and long life.

Use the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Risk Reduction Tool to find out what your personal risk factors are and how to prevent them.

Access Syringe Exchange Services to help prevent sharing syringes and drug preparation equipment.
